On Tuesday, August 15th, 2017, the Scientific Centers at An-Najah National University organized the “GNSS and Quality Control: Concepts and General Standards” workshop at the Scientific Centers’ conference room in the New Campus. The event was sponsored by AXIS - GPS and Surveying Instruments LTD.
The workshop addressed issues on GPS work mechanism, spatial measurements in land settlement, the difference between fixed station and VRS network, work quality control, measurement parameters, examining measurements in the office and detecting errors and issuing quality measurement reports.
At the beginning of the workshop, Prof. Jalal Dabbeek, Director of Scientific Centres welcomed the attendees and briefed them on the scientific centers’ history, facilities and achievements. He also referred to the collaboration between An-Najah and the governmental and non-governmental institutions and stressed the importance of supporting the Land Settlement Project.
Engineer Salameh Awawdeh, Director General of AXIS commended An-Najah cooperation with AXIS and talked about the importance of the workshop with regard to land settlement in Palestine.
Dr. Mousa Shakarneh, Chairman of Land and Water Settlement Commission talked about the importance of the partnership between the public and private sector institutions. He also said that the workshop combines theoretical and practical aspects and enriches the participants’ experiences.
In turn, Eng. Ahmad Madi from the Palestinian Land Authority talked about the geodetic network project and its importance. He also stressed the importance of the partnership between An-Najah and the local institutions who are members in the National Geodetic Network.
At the end of the workshop, An-Najah offered honorary plaques to AXIS, the Land and Water Settlement Commission and the Palestinian Land Authority.
