Support Action for Strengthening Palestinian-administrated Areas capabilities for Seismic Risk Mitigation project in Palestine (SASPARM) which is implemented by An-Najah National University in cooperation with the EUCENTRE and the University of IUSS in Pavia-Italy within European FP7 projects launched its first e-published Newsletter in both Arabic and English.
According to Dr. Jalal Dabbeek, director of the Centre of Urban Planning and Disaster Risk Reduction at the University, Vice president of the National Agency for Disaster Risk Mitigate and the coordinator of SASPARM project that the Newsletter contained important information about the project's vision, objectives, publications, and activities, such as training courses, workshops and lectures, which are implemented in Palestine.
It is noteworthy that SASPARM aims to strengthen cooperation with neighbouring European countries, under the framework of the European research area, and to reduce the risk of earthquakes in Palestine, through the development of the capacity of the Palestinian engineers and institutions in the field of seismic design of buildings, and raising the public awareness in the field of earthquakes risk mitigation.
